Hand-finished leather upper
These are really nicely made boots and seem a great value... IF they fit you. As other reviews mention, they are on the narrow side of fit. I do not have wide feet, yet after trying them on a couple of times I had to admit that they were simply too tight. Also, the overall styling was just a bit too "Euro" for my tastes. The asymmetrical shifter opening, instead of visible padding, was too funky for me. I also found the soles to be a bit narrow as well, I simply didn't feel confident and planted on my feet. To be fair, the features and quality at this price point are exceptional. Perhaps after break in I would have found them more comfortable, but my seller only accepted returns in new condition, so I ultimately returned them without actually riding and walking in them. These are really good looking boots, the only part that I didn't like is the stiffness that for a cruiser boot I found them kind of uncomfortable for around town which was my main purpose of buying this boots. May be for another type of ride will be perfect. I do recommend them for someone looking for cool looking boots for riding !!! Obviously the quality of Alpinestars is there, top grain leather fit and finish. What I like:Style - these were just what I was looking for in the way of style. Low key street riding boots. They don't have a ton of branding and could pass for the business casual from a distance. (If it weren't for the clop of the weight.)Quality/details - they have a nice curved toe seam to avoid wear from the shifter. The ankle armor is a nice touch too.Comfort - Overall, pretty comfortable. They are stiff and really don't bend much (at all?) at the midfoot. These are my first pair of motorcycle boots, so I don't have much reference relative to other boots. But I think anyone would acknowledge they're kind of stiff even after a break in period.Really not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning. Anyone who has owned steel toed boots will be familiar with the feel. What I don't like:Finish durability - My only gripe. I purchased the brown version and the finish on my pair is very sensitive. It could be a manufacturing defect, but the finish scratches and kind of "smears" very easily.Staining - I was putting gas in the tank of my bike and a few drops fell out of the nozzle and stained the finish on the toe box. It's not terrible, but I can still see it. After the fact, I looked for more specific care instructions, and didn't notice any inside the box.I have since treated them with a water repellent to avoid further damage. That repellent darkened the leather further making the original stains a little less noticeable.Scratches - Again, this is my first pair of boots, but the wear and tear on this pair has been extremely visible. Could certainly be operator error, but the inside left boot (shifter) looks rough after ~50hrs.I know these are not dress shoes, so I'm not looking to keep these picture perfect. But they are also not cheap, so I had higher hopes for durability in that respect. All in all, really like the boots -- sharp and pretty comfortable. But I would recommend getting a water repellent on them asap if you buy them.
